Shiraz 2019

'Alexander's Vineyard'

Winemaking Notes

The majority of the fruit for this wine came from our Miamup Vineyard located in the warmer drier region of Wilyabrup in Margaret River. The fruit was harvested at optimum ripeness when the natural tannins had achieved ideal structure and flavour as determined by taste.

Fermentation was conducted in stainless steel vats with selected parcels being held on skins for an extended period to develop tannin structure. Post fermentation the must was pressed to a combination of new and old French oak barriques. The wine matured in these small oak vessels for approximately 15 months before being individually selected for the final blend. Once blended the wine received a light protein fining to soften the palate and improve tannin structure

A rich nose of ripe plums, blueberries and mulberries with hints of cedar oak. These are complimented by notes of milk chocolate and star anise.

The palate reflects the nose with flavours of ripe
plums and blueberries, which is counterbalanced with dark mulberries and chocolate. This elegantly structured wine has round soft tannins which results in a silky lingering finish.
