Winemaking notes:

The first crop of Chardonnay was harvested in 1984 by winemaker John Tate and his family, and was set aside to mature in oak. Thirty years on, this Franklin Tate Estates Traditional Margaret River Chardonnay is made from the same vines in the family’s awarded vineyard – a pure expression of what premium Margaret River Chardonnay winemaking was all about, and still is today.

Oak:

A portion of this wine was on toasted french oak for over 3-6 months.

Cellaring:

Drink now or cellar for 2-4 years.

Nose:

Nutty, butterscotch and honeydew fruit characters show throughon the nose from the combination of riper fruit and cinnamon spice from oak.

Palate:

The medium weight palate is round and soft with flavours reminiscentof hazelnuts, vanilla, ripe stone fruits and melons. The finish is textural,ripe and lingering with creamy fruit.

Food Pairing:

Pairs well with Crayfish or steamed Lobster with lemon herb butter dressing.
